Red Hat Certified Technician Certificate:

Red Hat is a company in the free and open source software sector, and a major Linux distribution vendor. The program is flexible and works on a hierarchical model. Choosing the right certification depends on your background, job role and on your goals.
The Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) certificate exam is a performance-based test that measures actual competence on live systems. RHCT is the first step in establishing Linux credentials and is an ideal certification for those transitioning from non-UNIX/Linux environments.

Advantages of Red Hat Certified Technician Certificate:

The Red Hat Certified Technician Certificate is the basic certificate offered by Red Hat and requires no previous experience. It is thus excellent for those who are seeking to transfer from a non Linux environment, and for other start ups.
Because the Red Hat Certified Technician Certificate exam is performance based, it is automatically a meaningful, serious certificate, proof of actual competency, unimpeachably better as a measure of actual skill than other OS certifications.

Course Structure of Red Hat Certified Technician Certificate:

The exam for the Red Hat Certified Technician Certificate is three hours long, and is a very hands on examination.
The actual performance of candidates is tested by requiring them to successfully complete installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks similar to those they must complete on the job as system administrators. Also Red Hat determines their performance on these tasks by whether their systems perform as specified in an objective and verifiable manner.
The Red Hat Certified Technician Certificate exam consists of 2 parts :
  • Section I: Troubleshooting and System Maintenance (1.0 hours)
  • Section II: Installation and Configuration (2.0 hours)
You can retake an exam as many times as you want. Also you may take an updated version of the Red Hat Certified Technician Certificate exam to keep yourself at par with emerging technologies.
